West Simpson Hatzellis Pty Ltd, was founded in 2004 in Melbourne, Australia. From its inception, the studio's work was recognised for its expressive architecture that was underpinned by contemporary research into digital design and fabrication, cultural critique and sustainability. It won numerous awards, including for the Seaford Life Saving Club entry and the Monash Architecture School project. In 2009, it won the IDEA Emerging Practice Award. The directors have exhibited their work in London, Sydney and Melbourne and most recently at the Venice Biennale.
